The Lit Shop is a theatrical literary consultancy service that works with theatres around the world to source and develop the best work for each particular client-theatre. The Lit Shop’s underlying role is to amplify and push forward each Artistic Director’s vision as creatively as possible.
Services include and are not limited to: assistance with season programming, reading of material, liaising with agents, US-UK project shepherding, finding plays for actors, connecting plays to client theatres and vice-versa, dramaturgy, idea generation, adaptation ideas, specific fundraising projects, book and publishing projects, etc.
Raphael Martin, company director, has worked in literary management and dramaturgy for 20 years. He has worked with the following companies: The Royal Shakespeare Company, The National, The Malthouse Theatre Melbourne, The Royal Court Young Writers Programme, Manhattan Theatre Club, The Bush Theatre, The Gate Theatre, Soho Rep, Sonia Friedman Productions, Elliott & Harper, Theatr Clwyd, Northern Stage, Northampton Royal & Derngate, PASSENGER (a film and television company), English Touring Theatre, Hackney Showroom, Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, and The National Youth Theatre.
